43 Miles of New Rail

  • 25 miles of new commuter rail – Red Line – connecting Uptown to North Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson. A future extension would provide service to Mooresville in Iredell County.
  • 2 miles of expanded light rail – Blue Line – extending from I-485 to Pineville. A future extension would provide service to Ballantyne.
  • 12 miles of new light rail – Silver Line – connecting East and West Charlotte from nearby the airport to the Bojangles Coliseum. A future extension would provide service to Matthews.
  • 6 miles of new streetcar – Gold Line – extending west to Rosa Parks and east to Eastland Yards.

Commuter Rail Goes First

The New Commuter Rail Red Line would be built first if the referendum passes. State law would require that at least 50% be completed before any other new rail lines open. Stations would offer Park & Rides, new development, and first and last mile transit connections.
